Patio Kit Types

We supply kits for every style of patio and carport:

• Flat roof patios — clean, modern lines that suit contemporary homes. Low-profile and cost-effective. Available in insulated or single-skin roofing.
• Gable patios — pitched roof with a peaked centre line. Adds height, airflow, and a more traditional look. Great for larger outdoor areas.
• Skillion patios — single-slope lean-to design, often attached to the house. Simple, effective, and works well on most homes.
• Carport kits — freestanding or attached, single or double bay. Sized for cars, caravans, boats, or trailers.
• Deck and patio combos — a timber deck with a steel patio roof, designed and engineered as one integrated structure.

Kit Supply vs Full Installation

Same approach as our shed kits — you choose how much we do:

Kit supply: We design, engineer, fabricate (with powdercoated steel frames), and deliver your patio kit. You or your builder installs it. This works well for experienced owner-builders or licensed tradies who want professional engineering without paying for installation labour.

Full installation: We handle the lot — design, engineering, council approvals, construction, and handover. One point of contact, one team, no coordination headaches. See our patio installation page for the full rundown.

Attaching to Your Home

Most patios attach to your existing roof or fascia. This connection point is critical — get it wrong and you’ll have leaks, structural issues, or both.

Our engineering covers the attachment method in detail. We design the connection to your existing roofline, specify proper flashing and waterproofing at the junction, and ensure the loads transfer correctly into your home’s structure.

If your home has a tile roof, metal roof, or an unusual profile, we’ve dealt with it before. The engineering is included in every kit — it’s not something we leave for your builder to figure out.

Council Approvals for Patios

Most patios and carports in Western Australia require a building permit — especially if they’re attached to a dwelling or located within setback areas. The permit process requires engineered structural drawings, a site plan, and compliance with local planning rules.

We handle submissions to the City of Swan, Shire of Mundaring, City of Kalamunda, and other Perth councils. Typical approval timeframes run 2–4 weeks depending on the council and complexity.

If you’re doing a kit supply, we still prepare all the engineering documentation you need for the permit application. We can also lodge it on your behalf for an additional fee.
